I found some more pics from dino's shoot on my hard drive. So I was doing a little bit of dreaming about my old FD. Simply perfect. I really poured a lot of money and effort into RE-Xtreme Ver II. Even with access to discounted parts, they totalled over 3.5Million Yen making it a pretty expensive machine. That said, It still made it about 3x cheaper than building a similar car in Australia.

Festival ( Matsuri ) time in Uraysu city saw the streets lit with Japanese style lanterns. It was a very nice atmosphere for some final shots of the now sold FD. The car looks great at night but shooting the colour on a camera is very difficult indeed. Russ.

Here is the car in attack mode. I couldn't get number 7 for the side :( But the car really looked good. Performed well. Temps just creeping up when attacking very very hard. Need some proper ducting under the bonnet. Other than that, it was a lot of fun. Hours of playing GT5 paid off as the line was embedded in my brain. Fuji is an awesome circuit. Feels very safe and it was a good shakedown

Well the Carbing 3 point brace is on. Thanks to Miguel again for tools and gentle fitting technique. :) We recently ordered two. He already fitted his to the black Main Newera Demo car below. We also trimmed the engine damper rod for fitment and clearance.Other than that, I still need to adjust the brake master cylinder brace... Miguel from Newera is a great motivator. He gets me to the stuff I have been putting off for a long time. My new head unit came today. It is a Carrozzeria DEH-P530 or Pioneer in the normal world. It has multi colour changing display so you can match your interior. Red Blue White... I might do a combo to match the defi'sIt also has Ipod and USB reading and control facilities. And it looks cool. Very simple design. I took the car to have the tyre fitted near my house. I was lucky because the inside of the tyre was munched from driving a small way on the FLAT. So It was definitely a good decision to get a new tyre.The guys were friendly at the Bridgestone place. I got a couple of pics of the rear Aragosta and Cusco Bars that are now on the car.Russ

A small interior update with the addition of the atc suede Sprint gear knob. It looks excellent and matches the interior well, But.This one is very light and I'm not sure if I prefer the older heavy Veilside one. One benefit of the new suspension is that I reduced the ride height. It was sitting a bit high. I also removed the rear spacers. Wheels now sit comfortably on the rear, but I may add a small spacer just for looks more than anything.Feed's recommendation of 18x10+25 and a 25mm spacer is no where near suitable. maybe 10mm is ok. My ATC Shift Knob arrived today. It is tasty leather and Suede with blue stitching that complements the Nardi wheel well. It has two types of bottoms for it, a chrome one and a black one. I fitted the black one which works well. It should also suit my new stereo when it arrives.The new knob mounts without the thread and allen keys are used for securing it.Which is lucky because we were fitting it

My Cusco Veranza Stabilizer bars arrived today.Front spec is 32mm and the rear is 18mm.They are still in their wrapping, but are a nice royal blue colour. They will be fitted on Sunday along with my Aragosta suspension snd an oil change. Almost ready for a drive.Russ

Clearances are tight, but its all in there somehow. The Blitz SUS cleaners and Intercoolers are HUGE, so its all very tight getting everything to fit correctly, so this job was dont by KTS. What took them a few hours would have taken me a week!The old rad had scoring from the fan so this one has a little extra space for the fans just 1mm back. Already noticed fast cool down. Re-installed the number plate and re-fitted the Re-Amemiya sleek light cover which was hanging up a little. Not much to report.With the new bonnet, I can't run the Cusco front strut bar. Anyone got one that fits with a AD9 hood? It is further back than standard and a lot higher. I have to trim small parts for the rear holders but the rain trays are a no fit. Last night, I did my first long cruise in the car since I got it back. Tokyo - Daikoku - Return on the Wangan. The number plate started to come off!!! Luckily, Miguel went past in the newly refreshed Newera hachi-rocku and noticed it was hanging down, we managed to save the plate and more importantly, the titanium knight sports bolts. I think some lock nuts are in order. Looks more JDM style

Today was a huge typhoon in Japan. The river was up to the retianing walls and thoughts of my pride and joy being washed out to sea were not far away.Anyway. A short drive shows that the car is driveing well. Coming together, lowered the car today and it solved some of the clearance issues I was having with the wheels on the front of the car. I now have full lock without rubbing, but its close. Still have to install the side skirts also but its getting there. Rear spacers are probable 5-10 mm too wide but the front of the car is spot on. All will be adjusted in due course. Russ. ;)

As time passes while the car was delayed. Not much activity to report. Basically the car is still in preparation mode.The clock ticks down to the 20th. Today the RE-Amemiya lights showed up. RE-Amemiya took their sweet time delivering these so the car has been waiting around in prep form. 2 weeks after from their promised delivery.This has delayed work on the car and the shop is now pretty busy so there will be a bit more time. After 7's day there are always things you want to change as it's like a big parts supermarket full of ideas. But actually this seven's day has confirmed my plan for the car. Here is a very nice item that will be added as a finishing touch. These Knight Sports number plate bolts are titanium finshed with a heat treatment that has the full colour spectrum.They will finish the car off very nicely indeed. Progress on the rear fenders has commenced and is almost complete, I am dropping off my rims and tyres today to get fitted, but I probably wont stick them on until later. Inner lip is not entirely flat but will definately have enough space for the rims. Other side should be finished in the afternoon.I also went theough the paint cards and chose a colour. The front bumper is on for test fitting, the lines are pretty good shape wise but the joins are a bit different. I guess thats what happens when you mix and match. Its pretty close and I'm sure the end result will still be awesome.The left rear fender is cut away and filled and the rear fender was being fitted. Ordered the Advan Neova AD07 today.Size is 255/35/18 all round. So they are kind of interchangeable. They should offer enough grip if the RE-Amemiya Touge Monster is anything to go by. The Feed car had 500 horsepower and lights them up no problems as do most D1 drift cars, but the RE-A Car seems to get plenty of go forward. I have the same amount of power so they should suit fine. Went for a cruise down to daikoku to meet the guys from the GTROC club in Japan. The Immortal GTR club was also there and Three 2001 Model Bathurst R FD3s Rx7s.Testing My Defi Boost Guage and just go for a drive. I am pretty happy with how the car is running at the moment. Ran some of the wiring today and mounted the Defi guages. Didn't have time to finish running the oil sensors though. Fitted the Feed Front Fenders Only painful process was removing the guard inners. The fenders fit very well. I wanted to do the front bar at the same time so there will be some re-fit soon.Very sweet fit. Panel gaps are good. No fouling of the popup lights. Fabricated a mount today for the Defi BF Meters.I decided to mount them securely on a slab of aluminium to match the gauge surround. Miguel from www.neweraimports.com has sourced this 1996 FD with a few nice extras. The car will definitely suit the RE-Xtreme project II plan. Inital test drive proved interesting. Drifts well and pulls very hard indeed for a boost up car. Pan Speed works well and Kei Office Suspension is stiff but compliant. Clutch requires replacement in time. But otherwise a great machine.Russ.
